Application

YIGYOOLY Ammonium Cerium Nitrate is uUsed for the determination of trace silver ions, oxidation-reduction titrant, olefin polymerization catalyst.


As an analytical reagent, it is commonly used to prepare redox titration standard solutions, as a chromogenic agent for thin layer chromatography to detect polyols, as a raw material for preparing phosphate sensitive membrane electrode components, and as a reagent for potentiometric titration to determine various amines. It can also be used as an oxidant and catalyst for olefin polymerization.


YIGYOOLY Ammonium Cerium Nitrate is a strong oxidant with strong oxidation ability under acidic conditions, second only to F2, xeo3, ag2+, O3, and HN3. CAN is a single electron oxidant in aqueous solutions and other proton solvents. The consumption of canned food can be judged by the change in color (from orange to light yellow). Due to the limitation of solubility in organic solvents, most reactions involving CAN are carried out in mixed solvents such as water/acetonitrile. In the presence of other oxidants such as sodium bromate, tert butyl hydrogen peroxide, and oxygen, Ce4+can be recycled to achieve catalytic reactions. In addition, CAN is an effective nitration reagent.


YIGYOOLY Ammonium Cerium Nitrate exhibits oxidative activity towards oxygen-containing compounds such as alcohols, phenols, and ethers, with specific oxidative activity towards secondary alcohols. If benzyl alcohol is oxidized to corresponding aldehydes and ketones, the CAN/O2 catalytic oxidation system can even oxidize p-nitrobenzyl alcohol to p-nitrobenzophenone. In addition, for special secondary alcohols such as 4-enol or 5-enol, cyclic ether compounds can also be obtained.


Under the action of YIGYOOLY Ammonium Cerium Nitrate, catechol, hydroquinone and their methyl ether compounds can be oxidized to quinones. If catechol is converted to o-benzoquinone, hydroquinone is rapidly converted to p-benzoquinone under the action of CAN and ultrasound, and aromatic ether is converted to p-benzoquinone, etc.


For the oxidation of epoxy compounds, dicarbonyl compounds can also be obtained. In addition, CAN also exhibits oxidative activity towards carbonyl compounds with specific structures, such as the oxidation of polycyclic cage ketones to lactones.


As a single electron oxidant, ammonium cerium nitrate can also achieve the formation of intermolecular or intramolecular carbon carbon bonds. For example, the oxidative addition reaction between 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds and styrene system under CAN action, or the dimerization reaction of aniline itself,


YIGYOOLY Ammonium Cerium Nitrate, in addition to oxidation reactions, is also an effective nitration reagent, especially suitable for nitration of aromatic ring systems. For example, it is possible to react with benzyl ether in acetonitrile to obtain the product of nitration. However, due to the strong oxidizing nature of CAN, aromatic ring systems often undergo nitrification and even produce polymers that are difficult to separate. Research has found that adsorbing CAN on silica gel can reduce its oxidation and the formation of multi nitro products. For example, in acetonitrile, the yields of carbazole and 9-alkylcarbazole can be increased to 70% to 80%.


Storage & Note
